Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball Recipe
A sweet switch from the usual cheese ball. Cream cheese and butter are sweetened and blended with miniature chocolate chips, then rolled in chopped pecans.
I MADE THIS RECIPE FOR THE FIRST TIME. I FOUND THE OTHER REVIEWS TO BE MOST HELPFUL,ESPECIALLY THE SUGGESTION OF INCREASING THE CONFECTIONERS SUGAR TO 1 CUP WHICH I DID. I ALSO HAD NO TROUBLE WITH IT FORMING INTO A BALL QUICKLY. MAYBE OTHERS HAD TROUBLE BECAUSE THEY SOFTENED THE CREAM CHEESE AND BUTTER IN THE MICROWAVE. I SOFTENED MINE FOR 1 HOUR AT ROOM TEMP.-NO PROBLEMS. EVERYONE LOVED IT AND I PLAN TO MAKE IT AGAIN FOR ANOTHER EVENT THIS WEEK. THIS ONE'S A DEFINITE KEEPER!!!! KATHY
i love this recipe!! it's all everyone wants me to bring anywhere and its super easy!! also you can get creative and substitute crushed oreos for the chocolate chips or don't put either and just dump a can of strawberry or cherry pie filling on top. YUM:)
This was really delicious. You just can't go wrong with chocolate and cream cheese to begin with. If you follow recipe exactly (i used real butter), you will have no problems forming into a ball that will keep its form. I took it to a family gathering and everyone loved it. SOOO simple and also something different. I mixed the leftover choc chips with the pecans and rolled it in that, which looked really good - and I served with choc graham sticks, cinnamon graham crackers (which were the best to me), and honey graham sticks. A keeper for sure!!
This recipe is magnificent! I took to work and everyone loved it! Definitely added extra chocolate chips and I used milk chocolate chips rather than semisweet. I increased the confectioner's sugar to 1 cup but think it would have been good with less as well. Also, the mix will be very sticky when forming into a ball and rolling in the nuts so coating your hands with confectioners sugar or even a little cooking spray may help keep the mix from sticking to your hands. Make sure to let it chill long enough after you form it into the ball, I actually just did it in the bowl I mixed it in, chilled overnight then rolled in the nuts the next morning.
I really liked the cheese ball recipe, it was a great change from the cheese balls we usually have. I found that if you put plastic wrap in the bottom of two small round bowls and divide the recipe in half and ref. overnight the next day you will have no problem with molding the ball. If you put one half on top of the other and roll in the chips and nuts it will be a perfect ball shape, just wrap in plastic wrap and it's ready when you are.
I put mine in the freezer for a couple of hours to harden it before I rolled it in shaved chocolate chips. I also put some whole chocolate chips in the ball itself and served with graham crackers. It took one person to dig in a go crazy about it before the others tried it but had many people ask for the recipe. Every time I serve this, people love it and now they request it for our yearly gatherings. I cannot imagine why anyone would give it less than the five stars unless they just don't like sweets.
This is always the biggest hit when I bring it to parties!! I call it 'Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Ball'. I think it sounds better than calling it a 'Cheese Ball'. I use twice as much vanilla extract and a little more brown sugar than the recipe calls for. I serve it with Honey Maid Graham Cracker sticks.
